Post Production Breakdown Part II: Enersion
Not satisfied with merely an okay video, we set out to film some additional material that would help underscore the narrative, and be more visually arresting.
Though there are several shots of Toronto that we added for this reason, it was the Nano-Porous materials that we really wanted to improve upon. Initially, we filmed a slider shot of the Nano materials in dishes on top a counter. This was how they had prepared it for us when we arrived at the Enersion Facility.
The Nano materials, sitting static and dry on a white table did not demonstrate their function or significance in a way that was satisfying or elucidating. We wanted more.
This meant convincing the wonderful people at Enersion to extend the deadline and provide us with some of the Nano-Porous materials themselves. Having hit their budget cap, we offered to do this at a markedly reduced cost, i.e., nothing.
The before and after shot will be posted on Instagram showcasing the shot we could have settled for, and the one we pushed ourselves to add. We don’t want a video in our body of work that isn’t something we couldn’t have reasonably made exceptional.
